Christmas with the Devil

Before reading hold it in mind that we all today celebrate 25^th December as the day Jesus Christ was born that is clear and simple and no one is ready to spoil that party with some historian’s digging hammer. “ Oh spare me the details” are words you’ll hear while trying to point out the things that do not just add up here about 25^TH December, who was Santa Cruz, was Jesus Christ really born on the 25^TH OF December, what is the origin of the Christmas tree, the Mistletoe ? . An ancient Greek writer poet and historian Lucian (in his dialogue entitled Saturnalia) describes the festival’s observance in his time. In addition to human sacrifice, he mentions these customs: widespread intoxication; going from house to house while singing naked; rape and other sexual license; and consuming human-shaped biscuits (still produced in some English and most German bakeries during the Christmas season). And the activities have not changed today.

The New Testament gives no date or year for Jesus’ birth. The earliest gospel – St. Mark’s, written about 65 CE – begins with the baptism of an adult Jesus. This suggests that the earliest Christians lacked interest in or knowledge of Jesus’ birthdates. As part of the Saturnalia carnival throughout the 18^th and 19^th centuries CE, rabbis of the ghetto in Rome were forced to wear clownish outfits and march through the city streets to the jeers of the crowd, pelted by a variety of missiles. When the Jewish community of Rome sent a petition in1836 to Pope Gregory XVI begging him to stop the annual Saturnalia abuse of the Jewish community, he responded, “It is not opportune to make any innovation.” On December 25, 1881, Christian leaders whipped the Polish masses into Anti-Semitic frenzies that led to riots across the country. In Warsaw 12 Jews were brutally murdered, huge numbers maimed, and many Jewish women were raped. Two million rubles worth of property was destroyed.

We have to understand the celebrating the birth of something is celebrating it in it’s roots and origin now, imagine that your great-great-great-grandchildren were about to celebrate Hitlerday. If black garments were made to mourn to the death and white for happiness and tomorrow you put on white garments yet spend your entire day in the cemetery mourning and performing death rituals how does the white garment erase the fact that you are mourning?

On December 25, 1941, Julius Streicher, one of the most vicious of Hitler’s assistants, celebrated Christmas by penning the following editorial in his rabidly Antisemitic newspaper, Der Stuermer:

Christmas Trees

Just as early Christians recruited Roman pagans by associating Christmas with the Saturnalia, so too worshippers of the Asheira cult and its offshoots were recruited by the Church sanctioning “Christmas Trees”. Pagans had long worshipped trees in the forest, or brought them into their homes and decorated them, and this observance was adopted and painted with a Christian veneer by the Church.

It is not without noting that in pre-Christian Rome, the emperors compelled their most despised citizens to bring offerings and gifts during the Saturnalia (in December) and Kalends (in January). Later, this ritual expanded to include gift-giving among the general populace. The Catholic Church gave this custom a Christian flavor by re-rooting it in the supposed gift-giving of Saint Nicholas (see below).

Santa Claus

Nicholas was born in Parara, Turkey in 270 CE and later became Bishop of Myra. He died in 345 CE on December 6^th. He was only named a saint in the 19^th centurIn 1087, a group of sailors who idolized Nicholas moved his bones from Turkey to a sanctuary in Bari, Italy. There Nicholas supplanted a female boon-giving deity called The Grandmother, or Pasqua Epiphania, who used to fill the children's stockings with her gifts. The Grandmother was ousted from her shrine at Bari, which became the center of the Nicholas cult. Members of this group gave each other gifts during a pageant they conducted annually on the anniversary of Nicholas’ death, December 6. The Nicholas cult spread north until it was adopted by German and Celtic pagans. These groups worshipped a pantheon led by Woden –their chief god and the father of Thor, Balder, and Tiw. Woden had a long, white beard and rode a horse through the heavens one evening each Autumn. When Nicholas merged with Woden, he shed his Mediterranean appearance, grew a beard, mounted a flying horse, rescheduled his flight for December, and donned heavy winter clothing. In a bid for pagan adherents in Northern Europe, the Catholic Church adopted the Nicholas cult and taught that he did (and they should) distribute gifts on December 25^th instead of December 6^th.

Remember that God foretold his plan for humanity through the Hebrew prophets hundreds of years before Jesus was born. Isaiah, for one, wrote, "The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. . . . For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government


will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. . . . But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." On a personal level, his life enriches us today, and tells us death is not the end. His inspiration leads us to act beyond our own self-interest. His message of faith, love, and compassion will forever challenge us in our strength and comfort us in our weakness.

The intent of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of a special child, Jesus Christ, into this world on a daily basis. The world has been a much better place since he was born in Bethlehem on that day long ago. The life, and death, of Jesus altered the course of history more than any other person who has ever lived.

On an earthly level, his service to humanity has been a great leap forward that reverberates to this day. While he has been a leading inspiration for advancements in Western culture, in science, in medicine, and in the arts, we also know Jesus as the greatest social reformer ever to walk the earth. Before his birth, the world had little compassion for women, the sick, the lame, the elderly, or for human life in general.

So why do we decide to spend our entire year, in sin and all types of abominable things just to pretend to remember Christ on Christmas? It is through his revelation that all people are equal before God, and that all people have basic God-given rights and freedoms. So why should you choose a day that this freedom was denied to many people to celebrate this birth of Christ.

Nevertheless it is not the dates and time that matter. It is about what you celebrate, is it just about a party, Santa Cruz, the desire to impress someone , to show off Or just the December 25^TH fever ?, Are you a Christian or just a church goers that picks up or take advantage of special dates to eat and drink and party? Have you ever thought about the implications behind this dates when you do the wrong things on certain dates? No matter what happened on the 25^th no matter what customs and traditions that were behind this date if Christ really lives in you and you celebrate him at every moment in your life thanking him during every other day of your life just as the 25^TH then 25^TH december becomes no problem. It is only bad when we do abominable things on this day implying we are only commemorating or honoring the abomination that many committed on this day during the feast of saturnalia.

So do not panic, do not throw away your gift nor your parties, but do throw away pagan practices things that do not give glory to God. Throw away hatred and sin not just because it is Christmass but because Jesus was born to make every day of your life wonderful and you’ll wake up every day to perceiving every hour as if it was just another Christmas. ‘A man can never be his own god if he has already created one’ mere mortal humans have choose the fallacy of imitation backed by the trendy ideology of better species or stardom in which there unknowingly practice a kind of religious rite called Idolatry. Today’s world pattern has made many to brand their original nature as “incapable fakes’’ hereby exalting Hollywood stars, soccer, etc as models or the “capable originals’’ of human existence. However, this self fashioned ‘less fortunate’ often find themselves wrestling with this very down to earth inferiority complex trying to be something that there have themselves fashioned to already exist in a godly form. Certainly to be at a position already occupied by somebody can be as frustrating as chasing the wind.

Have you ever wondered why it is that you enjoy just watching a particular ‘icon, supermodel, star’ Or why an audience might like watching and experiencing movies, sporting events, music, political figures or any kind of entertainment if not societal figures?. Ask this question, what exactly does the performer( rock star etc) on one hand and the audience get out of the situation. A lady stares down the streets at a certain lady X walking she can’t understand the fact that everyman is looking at lady X and but no one is even noticing her. She gets back home and spends sleepless nights figuring out hot to copy all the aspect of walk, outfit and looks she could remember lady X possessed with the simple goal of winning the admiration of men. Are you sure you won’t miss the key factor about her attraction?

At times we might wonder if existence has limited us to the fact that those who create and perform ‘wonder’ do so because of some less rational, more self-based. Do there have all motives gearing us to but idolized them as demi-gods, offering to us just a copyright pleasure derived from the act of apparently defying the day-to-day laws of creation by our lazy manner of not seeking to accomplish a certain task or obligation levied on us by destiny in it’s original form but glorifying and idolizing some other being who have before us taken certain positions of grandeur in this domains of cinema, arts, sports, politics, etc or why even go far look besides you do you think that just being a good mother forcefully entails giving birth to a baby because every other woman is doing so? Why would a barren woman imprison herself into this jails of frustration while the gates of adoption are wide open beckoning on her for her own freedom. When we live by accepting the original nature in which we were made we live in happiness. When a barren woman knows and accept the fact that she is barren she governs her life else she will be govern by a new idols she creats everyday when ever she meets a pregnant woman. when an alert knows and accept the fact that he was not born to sing he runs even faster.

Our dramatic drift from originality is similar to the craving of man to live in a gravitational impossible, moon or the search for life on mars built just on a great deal of literature at least in one respect…they all involve fictitious subject matter.
